Starting from the east with Argyll and Bute you'll find a great diversity of landscape. With remote isolated islands off the east coast stranded by the natural environment for many years offering many accommodation options. The most popular of these islands is Mull that can be reached from Oban a popular ferry town.

The small isle of Iona is also popular with tourists. These areas have a small population and offer a remote and tranquil cottage holiday or self catering apartment. Further East you will encounter Loch Lomond, the largest freshwater loch in Scotland and famous for its outdoor activities. You will also find the West Highland Way a long distance footpath taking you along Loch Lomond to the highlands via Fort William. There are lots of holiday cottages for rent in this area allowing you to explore this region. Stirling is a very inviting attraction with its impressive castles and history.

Glasgow is Scotland's largest city and is rich with history and famous for its shipbuilding. Perthshire is a lush and green region steeped in history offering quiet peaceful lochs to adrenalin based activity holidays and host to many caravan and camping holiday parks. Fife is surrounded on three sides by the sea and offers many small fishing communities. Fife also has large industrial towns which are steeped history.

The south is quite industrious and hosts large industrial towns such as Dunfermline. The north becomes more rural and St Andrews, a university town, is very popular with tourists with many holiday cottages for rent.

Stirling is offended considered as a smaller version of Edinburgh and hosts its own very impressive castle. For spectacular engineering the Falkirk wheel is a must see. Lifting boats over a hundred feet in to the air and transferring boats between the two canals.
