Explore this quite untouched region for peace and tranquillity. Boasting several ruined abbeys, stately homes, and castles and roaming hills if you're looking for a quite peaceful stay away for the hustle and bustle of city life. The Solway Firth, which is between Scotland and England, is well known for its wildlife and red-sandstone ruins of Sweetheart Abbey and Caerlaverlock castle. The Galloway forest Park, covering 150,000 acres is purpose ideal for hill walking and mountain biking. With more castles and port towns this is an ideal place for a self catering apartment or a holiday cottage as a base to explore this tranquil and historic region.
South West of Dumfries you find the Coveland Coast which is a beautiful stretch of coastline travelling there you will pass the New Abbey, tranquil farmlands and to the Sandy hills which overlooks the mud flats of the Solway Firth. This region has a host of holiday accommodation options available.
