Loch Lomond Self-catering Accommodation

 

 

For any visitor to Scotland, Loch Lomond is a must see, it is the second largest freshwater loch in Scotland and the largest by surface area. Set on a Boundary fault that creates a diverse and picturesque landscape. The Loch measures 5miles wide in the widest part and is 24miles wide with over 60 islands. Being only 14 miles from Glasgow, Loch Lomond is in easy reach for tourists. There are many leisure activities upon the water and there are many accommodation options in and around the area. Around the Loch you will find several picturesque villages. Along the banks of Loch Lomond is part of the West Highland Way which is a long distance footpath that starts just north of Glasgow and runs along the length of the Loch and continues up to Fort William. Loch Lomond also forms the heart of the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. The Trossachs are known to be like a miniature highlands with a diversity of landscape from forest lined mountains to picturesque Lochs and is very popular with tourists. The area is known for its outdoor activities mainly walking and mountain biking. The Glasgow Loch Lomond-Killin Cycleway runs along this region which is a well maintained mountain bike route and lots of walking opportunities. The area is serviced by a minibus service known as the Trossachs Trundler that will stop on demand for walkers and winds along this area of outstanding beauty.
